 Marie Stevens was a popular showgirl who gave up her career to start a family

She was born on December 29, 1909 in Jefferson County, Kentucky. After attending the University of Louisville she started working in a laboratory. Marie moved to New Haven and got a job at at a teaching hospital. When friends told her she could be a model she decided to quit her job and try it. The beautiful blonde quickly became one of New York's most popular models. She often posed for photographers Alfred Cheney Johnston and James Montgomery Flagg who called her the "ideal American girl".  In an interview she said "Posing is wonderful You have nothing to do." Marie joined the cast of the Ziegfeld Follies in 1931. She also performed on Broadway in the musicals Hot-Cha! and Music In The Air. Then in January of 1934 she returned to the Follies.

Marie married actor William "Buster" Collier Jr. on On December 31, 1934. The following year she made her film debut in Annapolis Farewell. She also had a bit part in the 1936 musical Song And Dance Man. Soon after she decided to retire from show business. Marie and her husband William lived in London, England for several years. Their daughter, Constance, was born in 1938. The couple were happily married and she enjoyed her life as a homemaker. During the 1950s William became a successful television producer. They later moved to San Francisco, California. She was thrilled when she became a grandmother and loved spending time with her grandchildren. On September 18, 1981 she died at the age of seventy-one. Marie was cremated and her ashes were scattered in the Pacific Ocean.
