She was born Elizabeth Madeline Shelton in 1892 in La Salle, Illinois. Her father, John Shelton, was a bookkeeper, and her mother, Mary Shelton, was a housewife. On June 4, 1919 she married Thomas Noon, an engineer. Their daughter, Nancy Jane, was born in 1920 After living in Colorado Springs for several years the family moved to Los Angeles, California. Betty made her film debut 1926 drama Christine Of The Big Top. Then she had a small roles in Don Juan and Mademoiselle Modiste. The lovely brunette was promoted as a screen vamp. Sadly on January 29, 1926 her husband died from a heart ailment. Seven months later she married Mark Kelly, the sports editor for the Los Angeles Examiner. The couple had a daughter named Jean. Betty appeared in a few more films but her career quickly stalled. Tragedy struck in 1934 when her thirteen year old daughter Nancy Jane died from polioencephalitis. Her marriage to Mark ended in 1937.
